Expression-ready ORF Clones
Alias : TIR8
Single ImmunoGlobulin IL-IR-Related molecule.
Single Ig IL-1R-related molecule (SIGIRR), also called TIR8, is a member of the Toll/IL-1 receptor (TIR) superfamily. SIGGIR is mainly expressed in mouse and human epithelial tissues such as kidney, lung and gut [1]. It contains the typical conserved motifs that characterize the TIR superfamily, but is structurally and functionally distinct [2]. SIGIRR negatively modulates immune responses. Inflammation is enhanced in SIGIRR-deficient mice and cells from SIGIRR-deficient mice show enhanced activation in response to either IL-1 or certain TLR ligands [3]. These data suggest that SIGIRR functions as an important modulator of TLR/IL-1R signaling.
