ABOUT
OG-2 promoter (Osteoblasts, Odonblasts) in pDRIVE expression plasmid
Osteocalcin gene 2 (OG2) expression is restricted to mature osteoblasts and odontoblasts and is regulated at the transcriptional level by hormones like Vit D3 and growth factors like TNFα.
The OG2 proximal promoter located between -147 and -34 is sufficient to confer osteoblast-specific expression to a reporter gene [1].
This region contains two osteoblast-specific cis-acting elements called OSE1 and OSE2 [2]. Multimers of each of these elements confer osteoblast specific activity to a heterologous promoter.
Addition of other regulatory elements located between 647 and 147 can further increase the expression level of a transgene in vivo [3].
