ABOUT
Elastase-1 promoter (Pancreatic acinar cells) in pDRIVE expression plasmid
The elastase gene is one of the pancreatic digestive enzyme genes which is activated in a stage- and site- specific manner during development of the mammalian gut.
The rat elastase 1 promoter is a 213 bp fragment comprised of the core promoter (-72 to +8) and the enhancer (-205 to -73).
The elastase 1 promoter was shown to direct the expression of a human growth hormone transgene in pancreatic acinar cells, stomach, duodenum, and colon.
This pattern of selective expression limited to the gastroenteropancreatic organ system is specified by the A element, one of three functional elements in the elastase 1 enhancer.
