ICAM-2 promoter (Endothelial cells) in pDRIVE expression plasmid
ICAM-2 is a cell surface adhesion molecule constitutively expressed in vasculature endothelial cells and megakaryocytes.
Endothelial-specific activity of the ICAM-2 promoter resides in a 334 bp fragment in the 5’ flanking region of the gene [1].
The promoter contains no TATA box but four transcription factor binding sites such as Sp1 and GATA motifs, essential for basal and endothelial-specific expression of the ICAM-2 gene.
The ICAM-2 promoter has been used to generate transgenic animals which demonstrated endothelial expression of a transgene [2,3].
